Hotel staff very rude. Had to move rooms 2 times as there wasnt any hot water or heating. Restaunt over price, only set menu.
Although we booked a standard room we were given a superior room with a full glass wall offering great views of the glacier and a reserved table in the dining room with the same great view. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was also great. They did try to charge us for the upgrade at check out but readily agreed to the lower price when we pointed out we did not request the upgrade.
The dining room waiter at dinner was less than friendly when we said we only wished to order an entree size meal each rather than the all inclusive dinner they offer.
Staff is cery friendly. They do there best to make your stay unforgotable. We hace a flat tire on our way to the hotel and they could repair it in a couple of hours for only 10$. The restaurant and bar have a fantastic view.
Huge room window with 1,000,000$ view of the lake and glacier Beautiful and spacious rooms(superior rooms) very friendly bar and restaurant staff
Intermediate level of reception and concierge staff Exaggerated pricing for all transport means: shuttles and guided tours - if you can arrive with a car.
The location was amazing! We were able to do multiple excursion by booking with the hotel, it was berry convenient.
The food could have been a little more diverse. I like salmon but not with every dinner.
The new rooms are lovely with beautiful views of the lake. It was the best choice inside of the park for the money.
Food was just ok, but expensive. No spa facilities. The recent forest fire burned out the center of the park, but lago Grey area not affected. Bad weather decreased rhe enjoyment factor. They had a diesel generator that ran the entire time.
Room was well desinged, hotel had wonderfull views...
We happend to be there, when there was a fire... We witnessed the smoke in our fist night, but the staff continued to assure us that it was safe, until emergency services next day was knocking at our door, and gave us 3 min to pack the bags, the staff cheated us with the bill, because we couldn't stay a minute longer, and to the question where should we go (we still had 3 nights in the hotel), answered: wherever you like! They took care only about organized groups, we, as individual travellers were just thrown away in the last minute, without any warning, in the middle of a forest fire! Also, they apparently have failed to aprehend the evacuation signals given by the local fire authorities and initiated the evacuation process only once an official has arrived at the hotel. Above all, the staff showed an appaling lack of necessary qualifications.
The superior room that we got, though somewhat pricy, was spectacular with a huge wall window facing the lake and the glacier. The room itself is top notch, well designed. It was a highlight of our travel.
The new Superior-Rooms are great !!! Fantastic view to Lago Grey with icebergs. If you prefer a small meal you can have a small card in the bar area with economic prices.
Lounge and diningroom would need a renovation.
All was good. Beautifull view in the upper price rooms.first hotel with good conditions in Booked.net.
its location on the lakeside of Lago Grey. The room we had (803) has a patio window along one wall allowing a great view of the lake.
The difficulty and expense of getting to and from the hotel (based on their own charges) to other parts of Torres del Paine was very disappointing. I would only recommend this hotel to those who either have their own transport or are part of a tour group.
The staff was not very kind. The hotel did not match my expectations. Apart from the room, the rest of the hotel is not appropriate for a four star hotel.
Location, location, location....in the middle of a wild and beautiful place...like utopia. The staff were excellent and very, very accomodating....good food in restaurant.... Pay the small extra fee (about $34) and stay in one of the #800 lake front rooms....
Spectacular location. Great room.
A little weak on excursion info. Services are available but you have to dig. Other hotels do a better job of posting daily trips etc.
Our flight was cancelled and we couldn't make it to the hotel at all. It's in a very isolated spot and really difficult to reach by bus, so if your itinerary gets messed-up (happens often in South America), it's highly unlikely you can get to Hotel Lago Grey on time, yet they will charge you for the full amount no matter what. It cost us gbp 200 not to stay at the hotel, and they were not helpful at all in this situation (they could have tried finding alternatives, like not to charge us if they find substitutes or charge us a reasonable cancellation fee). I think the hotel counts on the regular cancellation of flights/delays of buses, charges the people who couldn't get there, and then rents out the same room for others, making double-money. Smart business model, but far from being fair and honest.
